Loft Lamps are a series of digitally fabricated lamps available in 3D-printed PLA and in cast concrete. The name arises from a form study of the loft operation, common in many 3D modeling programs. Theloft operationtakes 2 or more two dimensional sketch profiles and smoothly connects them into a 3d object. The sketch profiles used include ARCH, SQUARE, KITE, and DIAMOND.
3D printing, a type of additive manufacturing process, builds 3D objects layer by layer out of thermoplastics such as poly-lactic acid (PLA). The layer by layer manufacturing process creates unique textures and item-to-item variations in shape, making each lamp unique. All lamps feature a matte white PLA diffuser, warm white LED bulb, and an on/off switch.
